Sum-01 – “Makin’ Moves”

London Ontario Artist, Sum-01, returns to the scene with the release of her Black Buffalo Records debut album, Makin’ Moves. The recording of this project began during the Summer of 2019, as Sum-01 and DJ Hullewud hit the road to Truro, Nova Scotia, to record a project with critically acclaimed producer, DJ Moves. The duo of Sum-01 and DJ Moves crafted this project for the true hip-hop purists out there who have been feening for  classic golden era aesthetics with a 2020 twist.  The five track album finds Sum-01 flowing over jazz inspired / new wave beats as she touches on a wide range of topics ranging from race, politics, female empowerment and hip hop nostalgia. During their stay in Nova Scotia, Sum-01 immersed herself into the turbulent history of Africville, a small community of predominately Black Canadians located in Halifax. This trip inspired some of the albums more prolific and politically charged tracks. From front to back, Makin’ Moves, proves to be the London emcees most ambitious and  engaging project to date. Makin’ Moves, was produced, recored and mixed by DJ Moves at Halfway House Studios; Truro, Nova Scotia. Making moves is available on   Vinyl, CD, and Cassette through Black Buffalo Records Halifax, NS – Digitally through Break North Records London, ON.
