J. Period had been a force in hip-hop since the 90’s, producing mixtapes for legends like Q-Tip and Nas, but it’s only now that he releases his debut album, J. Period Presents… Story to Tell (Chapter One).
This project is unlike any album we’ve heard, as it’s presented in a story book with narration from the legendary Dave Chappell. The project follows J. Period through various adventures, including a street ball game against rising star Masego on the track Globetrottin. This track features an excellent versus from Shad, who delivers (as always) a solid performance, acting in the role of a trash talking basketball vet.
This album is the first in a series of releases that will be dropping in the fixture, and if this project is any indication, we’re in for some excellent story telling in the coming months.
