Gearing up for the release of his twelfth studio album, Reks calls on Pharoahe Monch and Statik Selektah for his latest single, “The Complex.” Flowing over Statik’s classic golden era aesthetic, “The Complex” finds both emcees commenting on societies complicated relationship with pharmaceuticals. Monch spits bars from the perspective of a solider suffering from PTSD who is overlooked by the healthcare system while Reks provides a commentary on Big Pharma’s growth and damage. When asked about the record, Reks shared, “This song is valuable now in 2020 where we have a paradigm shift in people waking up” while Beatsmith Statik states, “Not a song for the light hearted but needs to be addressed.” The Complex will appear on T.H.I.N.G.S. (The Hunger Inside Never Gets Satisfied), set to drop September 11th 2020.
